Hologic, Inc. is a medical technology company primarily focused on women’s health; it sells medical devices for diagnostics, surgery, and medical imaging. In late November 2013, activist investor Carl Icahn disclosed a 12.5% stake in the company. Subsequently, the company adopted a poison pill to prevent a hostile takeover. In negotiations with the Company's board of directors, two additional directors backed by Mr. Icahn were added to the board, each managing directors of Icahn holding companies. Icahn considered his investment and intervention into Hologic to have been a success, with his nominees to the board of directors resigning on March 3, 2016 and exiting his position by May 16, 2016.

Former Employee - Field Service Engineer says

"No organic growth. Hologic buy companies with technologies they don’t fully understand, then are amazed with the growing pains. Engineers who started with Hologic resented the fact that Gen-Probe engineers had company cars, fantastic stock options, and pay higher then the national average. It lead Hologic engineers calling the GP engineers “entitled”. Hologic engineers also worked 40 hours a week due to the simplistic nature of their acquired Cytec technology. GP sold molecular diagnostic equipment for high-volume labs which required a lot more maintenance and troubleshooting. Due to the complexity of the machines and reference labs requiring immediate service, GP engineers worked long hours and weekends. Hologic was amazed by the overtime GP engineers needed for PMs and some repairs. FSE managers at Hologic merely sign off paperwork and are not involved in actual engineering. Repairs on some instruments would take weeks rather than days, as engineers were not allowed to have there own autonomy in making decisions on the next course of action."

Former Employee - Sales Representative says

"100% commission Terrible leadership Claim to be flat organization but if you reach out about anything you are “complaining.”"

Former Employee - Systems Engineer says

"Woman's health company who does not like women"

"Work life balance, toxic quality control environment, very bad management in quality control, too many reorganizations"

Current Employee - Mfg Engineer says

"If I hear the CEO say “you know” any more when he speaks.... watch the Kramer interview and count the number of times."

Former Employee - Territory Manager says

"Lots of promises but no follow through. They will hire you if you have a pulse and can fake your way through and interview."

Former Employee - Account Manager says

"The new C-Suite will tell you “sales is everything, and without this sales team we wouldn’t be here” but they treat you like a number. Incompetent quota team, and products that don’t launch. Quite appallingly the new CEO sat at another table at the Presidents Club dinner. I’ll let you decide if that’s a culture you want to work for. I understand everything changes and I appreciate that, but the old Hologic was so different, so it’s important to note why it used to be a great place to work."

Current Employee - "Responsable de producción, compras y calidad" says

"Huge work load and off hours working."

Former Employee - Field Service Engineer says

"Lack of communication between managers and departments leaving employees confused and customers with terrible service"

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Where to start? There is lip service from the executive leadership team that Cynosure has evolved from the previous Cyno 1.0 appauling and dishonorable culture. But in reality it is still very much alive and well. Sales teams are taught a very aggressive, scripted model of selling and there is no variation. This leaves very little room to cultivate long-lasting relationships with customers. It is a true game of quantity vs quality. It is a push culture with very little mentoring. Egregious behaviour is ignored if the person responsible is a sales 'producer.' There is insane turnover company wide with very few exceptions. Well over 50% have volunantarily quit or have been pushed out. This creates a very unstable team environment and the constant need to regroup and rebuild teams. It is not a sustainable business model and it is shocking that the executive leadership team seem to point fingers, deflect or ignore rather than consider what could be done better to retain talent."

Machine Technician II (Current Employee) says

"Crooked Management and HR corruption to say the least. Treat employees unfairly and no gratitude for the work being accomplished. It’s all about numbers and quality is last on the list. Went from a great place to work to absolutely dreadful in a few years time! A disgrace to the medical field."

Technician (Current Employee) says

"It's a really bad place to work at. They don't want to hire no one. They don't care about you or your family. They work u like a slave, they have no respect for there employees Cons: Hologic is ran like a circus"

Engineer (Former Employee) says

"Muy mala empresa, en el laboratorio de IQC (Incoming) los mismos compañeros de trabajo hablan mal de los demás, los jefes dan favoritismo a personas en específico y siempre prefieren a alguien sin estudios que a un profesional con título. Pésimo ambiente laboral y falta de un líder con experiencia para controlar todo esto."

Production Worker (Former Employee) says

"Such a horrible comapny to work for. You have to be temp for over 6 months before you can even be considered to be hired. Also management suckkkkks. Its so horrible."

Data Entry Specialist (Former Employee) says

"I worked at Hologic for 3 months as a temp, there was no respect for temps whatsoever. You felt like an uninvited guest just there helping out. The agency that got me into Hologic, Randstad was worse, they don't listen to you, constantly bother you with texts, calls and IM at all hours, even after work hours when they need in something from you. But when you need info from them to verify employment and get a reference for a manager or co-worker the will give you the run around and flat out ghost you if it doesn't financially benefit the agency."

Handpiece operator (Former Employee) says

"A typical day of work is dealing with management, I learn to deal with the problems. my co-workers was a go group of people.the hardest part of the dealing with management.the enjoyable part of that was getting off. Cons: break to short"

Product Manager (Former Employee) says

"My experience was so poor that I have little to say. The management, which started as terrible, somehow managed to get worse. The product management group was led by people who could not even write a coherent sentence in English. The products are good, but the lack of talent in engineering management and product management meant that products always fell short of being spectacular, or better than just good. Cons: Too many to even try listing."

Assembler (Former Employee) says

"They don't hesitate to layoff employees, often reposting the positions 3 to 6 months later to hire at lower wages. Benefits package has dwindled, profit sharing ceased, medical and STD / LTD replaced with much lesser plans. As they have grown in size the quality of the work environment has deteriorated. Management, particularly middle management, is insensitive to the needs of employees. Cons: working here"

Test Technician II (Current Employee) says

"Since I've worked at Hologic, I've learned many aspects of the company but I am currently looking for new employment because of constant layoffs. Only to see the job is posted again after 3 months. Cons: No loyalty."

Gyn Surgical Territory Manager (Former Employee) says

"This company is managed by people that are manipulative and condescending. Never ever recommend this company to anyone. They make you feel small and worthless. The sad thing is, they have the best products."

Facilities Technician (Former Employee) says

"I worked in the Facilities department for two years. Cons: Too numerus to list"

Process Technician (Former Employee) says

"Hologic use to be a pace that you respected and enjoyed coming to work everyday. All I see now is everyone waiting for there 8 hours to be up so they can get away from here. It's sad Hologic use to be enjoyable to drive to work everyday and do work that you were passionate about. But the current management and HR has taken that all away. Were on a path of employees leaving Hologic after 15 years just because the Culture is so bad. Every person that leaves takes resumes of current employees to try and get them hired on where they are going. Like I said if offered a job at Hologic refuse it and move on to a better company that takes care of there employees. And don't let management threaten your job 3 times a week that if he scores bad on a survey that Cooperate understands that it's the employees and not him and he has tasked him to fire the employees that scored low on the survey. Horrible place to work...Use to be GREAT a real shame.... Cons: Job being Threated on almost a daily basis"

Assembler (Former Employee) says

"The management crew have zero professionalism. One manager berates his employees in front of others and a supervisor sleeps with his employees and other female employees. Wages are extremely low too.,"

Current assembler (Current Employee) says

"If you want to be criticized for a positive attitude, enthusiasm and awsome credentials then this is the place. They may have excellent products, however the mfg team gets treatment like 1st grade. Cons: Antiquated mgt, with no future, no support and dead end opportunity. Miserable co workers."

administrative (Former Employee) says

"The managers don't care about you and your co-workers are rude, nasty, talk behind your back, they hate their job and make it known. Very high stress level and I was showing a manager a program because she didn't know how to use it. It was very lonely and not a good work environment. I would go home crying every night because I can't stand getting treated like a robot and if you made an error the supervior would be on your case like it was the end of the world. They don't appreciate anything, managers come and go as they please, they come in whatever time they want and sneak out of work early. There isn't a "team" environment, it's a bunch of cliques that go outside and smoke for 20 mins every hour. I am so happy to be out of there. The people I worked with would be on social media all day, texting, on personal phone calls and shopping for clothes online. I'm very disappointed. I was hoping for a long term career, I should have stayed at my previous job . Cons: rude people, no proper management, inconsiderate co-workers"

Label Control Technician (Former Employee) says

"This is a giant Corporation that swallowed a family owned business that was a threat to Hologic. Hologic made an offer Gen-Probe could not resist, Everyone but the higher ups payed the price. Building got closed, people let go, and pay went down. Work hours went up so did the revenue of 3.5 billion dollars and yet they could not afford their employees for over a year a good enough salary. They hire temp employees for some times two years with very low pay hard hours and no benefits, with no guarantee of full time job. Cons: SOP training, no time to take training, terrible management."

Senior Technical Writer (Former Employee) says

"The company is focused on management and individual contributors have little empowerment or professional satisfaction. They have taken to terminating and laying off experienced folks so that they can re-post their jobs at a more junior level and for less pay. For a woman's health company, it is very family unfriendly. They also hire very few minorities."

Clinical Services Coordinator (Former Employee) says

"Worst experience of my life. People were down right nasty and highly unprofessional. Compensation was nice but that's about it. Would not recommend to anyone. Cons: Everything else"

Mechanical Technician (Former Employee) says

"As a contractor, It goes with the territory. However, Treated like dirt and talked down to consistently...degrading! Cons: Insulted constantly"

Mala empresa."
